The "donation" is the door entry fee. We're calling it a donation because we need to be clear that this is a non-profitable event. The door charge is required to cover some expenses, which include:

• The bands. One of our key goals is to support the bands we feature by paying them for their performances.
• Sound and lighting equipment.
• Signage and safety precautions.

The costs for each event will vary, primarily depending on the bands' rates. We try to keep the costs down as much as possible, but unfortunately we don't have the advantage that most inner city venues have in being able to subsidise their door charges with (for example) the sale of alcohol.
