About The Gate

The Gate is a not-for-profit initiative that began life in a suburban backyard in Ryde. It emerged with a simple objective: to host, showcase and support great independent live music in a region of Sydney that didn't really see much of it - the broad spread of the North Shore through to the Western Suburbs.

After six successful shows and a rapidly growing following, The Gate's focus began to increase in scope - and since those early backyard gigs we've done shows in coffee shops, warehouses, rooftops, churches and more.

We love attempting to bring new things to live music. Often that'll be through not using established venues, instead preferring to see the world as a blank canvas - with any corner of our day-to-day environment holding the potential for meaningful connections between artists and enthusiasts.

Weʼre hoping that our efforts will support and foster a creative community that is excited about seeing music happen in new places - especially as music seems to get increasingly driven out of traditional venues thanks to rising expenses and increasingly difficult restrictions.
